SPAIN 1701 1 ESCUDOS NGC 55 “POP 1 ~ ONLY 1 KNOWN!” GOLD DOUBLOON COB TREASURE COIN This very rare Seville milled 1 Escudo form 1701 (Philip V) is so rare in fact that it’s an unlisted variety with dots flanking denomination only (CT-unl; type 90 KM-253). What also makes this piece so special is that the FULL 4 Digit Date is clearly displayed and the design is very well centered (atypical for this design). We’ve had and have some very nice 8 Escudos of this same date so would go nicely in a set as well. There’s still Luster on this over 300 year old Gold piece and the strike is Very Bold / Strong (Mint, Assayer, denomination and even the full King’s Ordinal).
