PERU 8 ESCUDOS 1727 “DOUBLE DATED” GOLD DOUBLOON COB LIMA NGC 45 ONLY 2 KNOWN!!!
LIMA mint, Assayer M (Megarejo, Felix Cristobal Cano) With ONLY 2 Known and the other piece being only slightly higher in grade, but this piece has a Superior Round Planchet with Excellent Centering and a very Bold, Strongly struck CROSS! The Toning really contrasts the devices and reflects the beautiful details. Rarely seen, this piece has virtually NO doubling and still retains Luster throughout both sides. The Pillars are strongly struck with both Plumes being complete! The coveted 2nd date on the Pillar side is prominent and fully struck “27.” You can even see, due to the centering, the full amount of the Crown! Pieces of Eight have soared in pricing and demand with no end in sight, contrasted against a very small supply and every time one is placed in a collection it very rarely ever comes out!
