Mexico 2 Escudos 1714 "Dated! Coral Encrustations - 1715 Fleet Shipwreck"
Mexico 2 Escudos 1714 "Dated! - From the 1715 Fleet Shipwreck!" PCGS UNC Dets!! This piece is incredible because it has all the original coral on it from when it was found after 300 years under the ocean! We wanted to keep this piece untainted from its shipwreck origins, however that's also what held it back from getting a numerical grade (as you cannot see the surfaces under the coral as a grader to determine the grade). If we ever chose to use "conservation services" thru the grading company, of course it would end up receiving a numerical grade 60 or above, given it's in an "Uncirculated details" holder. However, of course that would mean removing the coral, which is what makes this piece so special. We chose to leave the coral on intentionally being "purists," and wanted to do what was best for the coin; but of course could always be "conserved" and get a numerical grade.
