Mexico 8 Escudos 1714 "1715 Plate Fleet - Finest Known" NGC 64
MEXICO 1714 8 ESCUDOS NGC 64 “DATE on REVERSE” 1715 FLEET GOLD COB TREASURE COIN DOUBLOON I just got this very special piece back from NGC grading, coming in at FINEST KNOWN NGC 64! The D.O.R. (Date on Reverse) has always been an elusive and highly sought after piece, most certainly because of it’s “ROYAL LIKE” Planchet and large size as well. The Obverse of this piece has a FULL Shield and a good portion of the Crown (rarely seen), but perhaps it’s the “GRAT” in the legend, along with the Mint / Assayer oMJ (Jose De Leon) and the Full Denomination (right of shield) “VIII” that really makes this Gold Cob POP!!! The details within the Shield are stunning, you can literally see the windows in the Castle (along with each of the Kingdoms being represented)!!! The Reverse displays a FULL and nearly perfectly centered CROSS and Tressures. You can still see the “Shipwreck remnants ~ Encrustations / Sediment” within the devices, so beautiful! Rare Opportunity to own an Elusive Variety and at a FINEST KNOWN GRADE!
