Venice (Italian States), grosso, ca. 1229-1249AD, mounted Christ-side out in twisted 18kt Gold Bezel with Shackle bail. 5.8gm total. Christ seated facing o nthrone, wearing nimbus crown, pallium, and colobium; annulet to left of legs; barred IC XC across fields/ Doge and Sn Marco standing facing, holding banner between them. Nicely toned AXF, finely detailed.
