Colombia 2 Escudos 1690 Dated NGC 53 Shipwreck Treasure Gold Coin
COLOMBIA 1690 DATED 4 DIG. 2 ESCUDOS NGC 53 1715 FLEET ERA GOLD COB DOUBLOON TREASURE COIN With ONLY 3 of these Santa Fe de Bogota’s even known and this being the only one we know of showing a FULL 4 digit DATE, this Charles II will be in high demand! Very possibly from the 1715 FLEET as we’ve had several 1696’s from the 1715 FLEET 300th Anniversary, just a few years minted after this piece here. Also, this piece has sediment throughout, consistent with the others we’ve carried from the Fleet. The obverse displays almost the Full Shield and Crown with “N” (R above) mint. The Reverse has a FULL Bold Cross (not doubled), with the date well displayed (despite the NGC prong) 1690! We’ve had and have other dates: 1696, 1699’s, 1703, etc.. All were very similar to this piece. Truly a trophy Pirate Gold Coin! mk (Cal.171; Tauler 155; Restrepo M50-25var) mk
