Spain 2 Escudos 1640-45 "Brute Style" RAW - to be Pendant
SPAIN 2 ESCUDOS 1640-45 (6.70gm) MADRID JEWELRY PENDANT PIRATE GOLD COINS SHIPWRECK This piece will make a beautiful PENDANT, as it has the BOLD Thick Cross that was struck on the “Brute” Style / variety. The toning is especially nice and really pops the details (devices) on this Gold Doubloon! The Shape is extremely attractive fort his Cob and will certainly add to the Pirate Look when mounted in a gold bezel. Even the Legends are partially legible (HASPANIRUM). Approx. 99% of these pieces from Spain are from the common mint of Seville, but this piece is from the rare region / mint of Madrid. Perhaps equally as beautiful is the Shield side, display’s it’s Kingdoms within the Full Shield and topped off with a FULL CROWN! Very Atypical, perhaps less than 1% display a Full Crown! To the left of the Shield is the Mint “M” and Assayer “B.” At 10 o’clock in the legend you can clearly see the strike “D.G.” Short for DIE GRATIA = Meaning “by the Grace of God” To the right of the shield is the Denomination, also clearly presented “II” Even part of the Legends are showing near the bottom “HISPANIRUM” once again. Truly a gorgeous piece of History waiting to be placed in a Gold Bezel to wear and enjoy a piece of almost 400 Year old History! xx
