PERU 1750 8 ESCUDOS NGC 55 “La LUZ” SHIPWRECK GOLD DOUBLOON PIRATE TREASURE COIN PERU 1750 8 ESCUDOS (DOUBLE DATED) “LA LUZ SHIPWRECK of 1752” This beautifully struck LIMA Gold Doubloon, 8 Escudos is from the “La Luz Shipwreck of 1752.” (We have COA and will be shipping to NGC to have added to Grade Tab). It is a large planchet of almost 30mm and weighs the FULL 27 grams, and was struck by Assayer R. The Highly coveted Double DATE (BOLD)1750, once below the very bold Cross and again on the Pillar side. You can see the small pieces of whitish encrustations around the “L” and “P.” This is of course the “FINAL YEAR” for the PERU COBS!!! I’ve seen this same coin type in slightly higher grade sell for $25k, routinely.
