Belgium (Brabant) 1 CD'OR 1554 "Charles V" NGC 61
BELGIUM Brabant. Charles V gold Couronne d'or au soleil 1554 NGC MS61, Antwerp mint, Fr-62, Delmonte-102. Obv. Crowned arms. Rev. Cross of fleur de lis with towers and double-headed eagles in the angles. Lustrous, with a soft strike. This type is referred to as a Couronne d'or, but some feel that this denomination was initially introduced during the reign of Philip II of Spain and the coins issued previous to this ruler, that are listed as Couronne d'or, should have a different denomination.
