MEXICO 1714 4 ESCUDOS NGC 61 “1715 FLEET” SHIPWRECK DOUBLOON GOLD COB TREASURE COIN
This NGC 61 has a SUPERIOR FULL CROWN & Shield as well as the Denomination! Extremely well Centered CROSS of Jerusalem! Encrustations and Sediment still present from 300+ years at the bottom of the Sea! (look in the devices and crevices at the far left of the crown base and down into the Shield Castles & Lions).x
Showing the coin in its ORIGINAL STATE! RARE ~ ONLY 13 Known / Certified by NGC! FOUR (4) Escudos VERY RARE! Mint & Assayer’s mark (oMJ = Mexico Jose De Leon). It catches the eye to see the inner ring and especially the Legends. There’s literally NO Doubling anywhere on this piece and no weak spots.
This piece seems as though it may have been struck with an (8) EIGHT ESCUDOs die variety, we are researching it now. We have another 4E, same exact date but a much smaller Crown and Shield. Also, it's clear the design does not fit on the Planchet, a sure sign it may very well be an (8) Escudos Die Variety on the Obverse only (cross side looks correct as a 4E). The Reverse has a FULL CROSS and a majority of the Tressure! Also the Legends are prominent on the Reverse as well as the Fleur-de-Lis. Full weight at 13.4grams) x
